9 members of the Association of the Museum of Białystok Jews win the POLIN Award

Mirosław Reczko

Historian, English philologist, regionalist, born in Ciechanowiec. A graduate of the University of Detroit (MA in history at the Faculty of Liberal Arts), doctor of humanities at the University of Białystok. Member of the Board of the Association of the Museum of Białystok Jews.

In 1987 - 1989 he was an assistant to Dr. Roman Nir, an archivist at the Polish Research Institute in Orchard Lake, Michigan. In the years 1990 - 1992 an assistant with prof. Raphael Shen SJ from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Detroit. In the years 1999-2002, the director and founder of the Junior High School in Ciechanowiec.

In the years 2006-2018, the mayor of Ciechanowiec.

Currently, he is the chancellor of the Białystok University of Technology. Author and publisher of many photo albums, as well as lectures, articles and books on 20th century history.

Translator of the memory books. Dr. Reczko spoke about these books during the "Absent Family" event in August 2020 organized by the Association of the Museum of Białystok Jews.

Nominated for the 2020 POLIN Award.
