9 members of the Association of the Museum of Białystok Jews win the POLIN Award

Karol Głebocki

History and Social Studies teacher at the Vocational Training Center in Wysokie Mazowieckie, a tourist guide in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, an educator at the Chamber of the Wysokie Mazowieckie Region (which he co-founded). Member of the Association of the Museum of Białystok Jews.

A graduate of the University of Białystok and the Białystok Pedagogical University. He specializes in multicultural issues. Jewish history and heritage scholar since 2005. The initiator of the Jewish cemetery cleanups in Wysokie Mazowieckie (since 2006), involving his students. Honored with a diploma awarded by the Embassy of the State of Israel and the Jewish Historical Institute (2007) for the protection of Jewish cultural heritage in Poland. In 2012, he received the "Open Mind Certificate" - a distinction in the competition of the Białystok Gazeta Wyborcza "Przystanek Młodzi" for discovering the truth about the past and building a better future. In 2015, he was a laureate of the David and Anna Dlugie Kliger Scholarship, implemented by the Forum for Dialogue. He is the co-author of the publication "Wysokie Mazowieckie in Photography on the 100th Anniversary of Poland`s Regaining Independence 1918-2018” and the “Podlaskie Shtetles" exhibition - part of “Absent Family” - this year`s commemoration of the 77th Anniversary of the Bialystok Ghetto Uprising. Currently he is working on a monograph on the Jews of Wysokie Mazowieckie.

In 2020, he received a distinction from the Chapter of the Irena Sendler "For Repairing the World". The award is granted to teachers active in their schools and communities, who teach and educate in the spirit of dialogue, tolerance and respect for others in the school and the local community, and inspire young people to act in accordance with these principles.
