In the mid-1930s, Anna and Max Deckston brought a group of 20 children from a Jewish orphanage in Białystok to Wellington, New Zealand. This way, they saved them from a certain death. Anna, or Cahan Toiba Boder (Beder) was born in Lachowicze, and Max, or Menachem Mendel in Mogilev in 1876.

Nowadays, their portraits can be seen in the Holocaust Center in Wellington (New Zealand).
