Pictures are of my great grandmother, and my great great grandmother Yetta (Jenta) Orlinsky, mother of Sara Basza Cohen, also of Trzcianne, my great grandfather, Harris Nathan Cohen (you have seen the tombstone) of Jasionowka/Yasinowsky, my great grandmother from Trzcianne`s note to my dad upon his graduation from 8th grade, and a picture of her in her later years.

Gravestone of Lena Perlstine Berkman, the author of the diary -  the first emigrant from Trzcianne to the United States (with her tragic family).
Credit Marc Cohen

The first immigrants from Trzcianne to come to South Carolina (USA) arrived around 1850 - there is a diary published by a young girl who took that trip, first by carriage to Hamburg, then by boat, I believe, to Liverpool, and then to New Orleans, and finally to Charleston. Lena Perlstein wrote down the story of her passage. She died in 1939.  There are still some copies of her handwritten memories, written when she was quite old.  Here is one publication of her description - https://sites.americanjewisharchives.org/publications/journal/PDF/1979_31_01_00.pdf -at page 69.   Here is one person`s genealogical record of that `first family` - https://aronoff.com/fam4436.html
