Chicago had a major enclave of people from Krinek, as Krynki was known to its former inhabitants. My grandmother was a member and I remember my father taking her to a meeting of these Krinkers. In 1951, the Krinker Aid Society and Ladies Auxiliary celebrated the “35th Anniversary of the Verein and the 30th Anniversary of the Ladies Auxiliary. While most of the people lived in Chicago, some others lived in New York City and Los Angeles.
They published a book in English and Yiddish that has much information about its members and life in Krynki. Our member, Joanna Czaban, translated the Yiddish. My granddaughter, Shayna Silverstein, and our member, Michael Gerson, indexed the names so you can look up anyone mentioned in the book and find out what pages he appears. Unfortunately, I have not been able to format some of the pages correctly.
The complete collection contains the original book, the Yiddish text with English translation, and the index. Click here to view.
