In October 2012, at the request of Białystok Society of Esperantists, the name of an important to the history of our city figure of Jakub Szapiro has been added to list of the proposed streets names. The mayor of Białystok have decided to use that list and name one of the unnamed streets after Jakub Szapiro. By doing it he reminded this remarkable figure to the citizens of Białystok.
