Ełk - Lyck - Synagogue
1859-1938
The synagogue on Bahnhostrasse/Hindenburgstrasse/Armii Krajowej
Street was the only Jewish temple in the city of Lyck (Elk).
It was opened in 1859 by
Rabbi Eliezer Lipman Silberman. It was built in neo-Gothic style. It can only be seen on a postcard
from the World War I period.
It was slightly damaged in 1914-1918,
and came to an end during Kristallnacht of November 9/10, 1938, when it was set on
fire.
In its place is now a newly built block of flats. The synagogue has
not been commemorated in any way.
