He was born October 15, 1915 in Różana, as Icchak Jaziernicki, son of Szlomo and Perla. During the Second Polish Republic, he was a Polish citizen. He graduated from Hebrew School in Białystok, and in 1929 he joined a youth movement, Beitar. In 1935 he began law studies in Warsaw, but he emigrated to Palestine, where he started studying at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He became a politician and a military officer, he was a Prime Minister in 1983-84 and 1986-92, he was a longtime member of Knesset and its chairman in 1977-80, and a longtime minister. He passed away June 30, 2013 in Tel Aviv. (jk)
