Narewka

Narewka - Dawid Lejzon
1928

David Lejzon was born in Narewka in 1928. His parents were Moshe and Hanna. In 1936 he moved to Krakow with his family . After the outbreak of war, the Lejzon family was living in the ghetto in Cracow. He was taken to the Plaszow camp in 1943 and was on the Oskar Schindler's list because of which he could work outside the camp. Unfortunately, in 1944 he was taken to the Gross-Rosen camp, and from there to Auschwitz where he was rescued by Schindler again. David with his younger brother Leon (Lejb) and his father were working in a factory in Czechoslovakia. Mother and sister Aviva were also on Schindler's list, which saved them from death as well. The older brother escaped from Cracow  headning to the east and stayed with his relatives near Narewka, later deported by the Russians to the mine. After the war David went to Israel where he  got married  with Rachel coming from Brok, they have three children. David Leizon and his family visited Narewka in 2002. The house where he was born is still standing.
