On July 29th, at 9am at our cobbled city square in Raczki we will see the installation of stones of remembrance called "Stolpersteine" committed to Berwald family members who had lived in Raczki for many generations. 

Around 11am there will be a concert of Szaweł Lipski Trio. The band plays songs from pre-war Warsaw as well as klezmer music.

Stolperstein is a name of the monuments commemorating the Nazi victims. The monuments are made in such a way that concrete sett with a brass plaque is placed in the road. Each plaque contains the surname of a person together with their birth and death dates and the information about their life. Stolpersteins are build onto the pavement, usually close to the latest accomodation place of the victim. There are over 20,000 of such stones of remembrance set all over Europe. They are not very common in Poland though. Some of them can be found in Słubice and Wroclaw. 

This type of stones were first made and named in 90s by a German artist Gunter Demnig.

Deming, together with a group of descendants of Berwald family from the USA will be present in the July afternoon in Raczki.
