Krynki translated by Beate Schützmann-Krebs

Yizkor Book Translation Krinik in Khurbn Holocaust in Krynki (Krynki in Destruction) Dear friends, Abraham Soyfer, who was born in Krynki, tells us how he experienced "Krynki, a town of work, sorrow and struggle" in his youth, and how the dark cloud of World War II descends upon the town with all its increasingly terrifying horrors. Miraculously, the author survives the Auschwitz concentration camp, where he actively participates in the prisoners` resistance plans. Driven by the unconditional will to give posterity a testimony about perhaps the most terrible crime of mankind, the author survives the ordeal of other concentration camps and finally the death march! His work gives a voice to all those who can no longer speak to us. Let us remember them, their stolen lives and their endless suffering during the Shoa. Never again! May my translation of this book, to which I have added a lot of additional material, such as original photos and paintings, not only help to keep alive the memory of the old, lost Shtetl Krynki; but may this work contribute to the preservation of the Jewish cultural heritage of this town and, in the course of growing understanding and reconciliation, bring it to life again.
