From November, 1941 in Grodno were functioning Judenrat and two ghettos. Jews who were useful to work for the Reich were being held in ghetto number 1 (Choral Synagogue Site) and the remaining ones were placed in the suburbs, so called Słobódka ( Kosmonautów, Lidzka and Antonowa Streets). A year later the ghettos liquidation campaign began. Jews from Grodno were deported to Auschwitz, Treblinka and ghetto in Białystok. (JT)
